Sony PS4 to Get Suspend/ Resume Feature and More With 'Yukimura' Update

The Xbox One is not the only console with a massive update. Following leaks on video game forum NeoGAF, Sony's 2.50 system software update for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) known as Yukimura was reported to be due soon. This was confirmed by Sony soon after.
In a post on the PlayStation blog, Sony detailed the changes the Yukimura update will bring to the PlayStation 4.
While some of the features leaked on NeoGAF such as backing up game data to an external drive and remappable buttons have not made the cut, the much touted suspend/ resume feature which lets you continue your game instantaneously, similar to the Xbox One, will be present.
"When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/ Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honoured to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, "Yukimura," will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4," said Scott McCarthy Director, Product Planning & Software Innovation, Sony Computer Entertainment America in the blog post.
Other additions include Facebook friend search, automatic screenshot capture the moment you earn a trophy which allows sharing of your greatest gaming glories a cinch, and remote play and share play at 60fps.
As for a release date, McCarthy remained non-committal, responding to a query in the comments section of the post stating, "we're in beta, you know that means getting it right, then committing to a release date. We'll be ready to announce a date soon."
